I’m taking a crew to the French Alps this season, home base at the Tignes 2100, three minutes from the lifts, with a frozen lake outside the window and 300km of piste to explore.
The Tignes 2100
People come back to this hotel year after year, and once you’re watching the snow fall over the mountains from your room, you’ll understand why. It’s right in the centre of the resort, a few minutes’ walk from the lifts, with a chic-meets-cosy look, soft lighting, squishy sofas, earthy colours, and rooms with more storage than you’ll know what to do with.
It’s half board, so breakfast and dinner are taken care of every day, start the morning properly before hitting the lifts, and come back to a hot meal waiting for you. Come evening, the bar is the spot for chilled après drinks, a nightcap, or, some nights, live music.

300km of piste, right outside
Tignes is a top-tier resort across the Tignes–Val d’Isère area, formerly known as the Espace Killy, tree-lined runs, long descents from the glacier, and blues and reds that are tougher than the colour suggests. Skiing goes all the way up to 3,456m on the Grande Motte glacier, with excellent slopes to suit every kind of snow-lover.
This trip is best suited to intermediate to advanced skiers, but beginners are very welcome too, group lessons can be booked to get you started on the mountain.
Several villages, several moods
Tignes is made up of villages at different altitudes, each with its own atmosphere, wherever you land, expect to wake up to a view most resorts can’t offer.

The après-ski is part of the trip
Tignes doesn’t do quiet evenings. Between the hotel’s own bar, Val Claret and Le Lac, there’s a proper spread of bars and restaurants to work through over the week, including two of the most famous après-ski spots in the Alps: Coco Ricos, right there in Tignes, and La Folie Douce over in Val d’Isère, easily reachable on the lift pass. Both are known for DJs, dancing on the tables, and drinks that start well before the lifts close.

Free entry with a 6-day lift pass, trade the piste for the waterslide for an afternoon.

Part ski jump, part bungee jump, entirely not for the faint-hearted.

A couple of questions
Ski or board hire (available onsite for €130 for 6 days), lunches on the mountain, massages, and any dietary requests not flagged at booking.
Just €500 to book your spot now, that’s all that’s due today. The remaining balance is split into a payment plan before we fly in January.
Yes, a board, boots and helmet can be added to your booking for the same price as ski, boot and helmet hire. The only difference is collection: snowboarders pick up their gear from the nearest SkiSet shop rather than the onsite hotel shop.
It’s best suited to intermediate to advanced skiers, given the terrain in and around Tignes. That said, beginners are very welcome, group lessons can be booked to get you started and up to speed on the mountain.
Yes, vegetarian is always available, and vegan can be arranged on request. Just flag any dietary requirements when you book.
